Mobile Views Equal 8% of All Video Views Online
We read each week about the continuing growth of mobile sales, and consumer activities on smartphones and tablets. However, Ooyala’s 2012 Global Video Index report reminds us that mobile still represents just 8% of all video viewing hours.
But….tablet video viewing grew 110% in 2012, and
mobile phone video viewing grew 87% last year.
Viewing video is still pretty much a desk top activity with 90% of all views happening on that hardware. The 8.25% overall number for mobile was still up from 4.15% in January of 2012.
