Adobe is ending all further development activities for it's Flash Player on mobile devices. ZDNet reports today (Nov 9th) that Adobe is choosing instead to focus on tools for Adobe AIR apps though they will also be looking at HTML5 solutions.
While the announcement is rocking the net in many quarters, for IVA customers it's business as usual since our player and trailers already work on all screens and with all operating systems. IVA got on board with HTML5 early in the game in order to ensure that our trailers would look great on Apple's iPad when it first launched.
We view monitoring the developments in software and hardware as a key part of our obligation to our clients and content partners. So we have supported as many as 17 different formats over the years. At the same time, we strive for maximum efficiency, so we recently announced that we will be ending our support for WMV at the end of this year.
Big waves for Adobe. Little ripples here at IVA.
